Modern Lullaby Playlist

I'm working on expanding my lullaby repertoire. "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Rock-a-bye Baby" are going to get old pretty quick, I think. Here is a playlist of songs that, while not technically lullabies, will probably do the trick. Plus, I can get an early start on sharing some of my favorite musical artists with my son.

My Favorite Pregnancy Stuff

Pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant? Just like everyone says, it is an amazing, wonderful, and life-changing experience. But no one can deny that it is also often confusing, overwhelming, and uncomfortable. With the latter in mind, here are some things that have helped me get through the first two trimesters of my pregnancy with a smile on my face (most of the time).

Here's a selection of my favorite slow jams to get you in the Valentine's Day spirit, because the best gifts on Valentine's Day are free.

ClassPass Launches in Saint Louis!

I am so excited for the arrival of ClassPass in Saint Louis! After seven months of hating my post-baby bod, I am finally going to do something about it, and ClassPass seems like a great place to start.

Best and Worst Dressed at the 2015 Golden Globes

It's been very lonely on the blog during the past few months while Samantha has been taking a break, but I feel her absence most acutely as I compose this best and worst dressed list. We can only imagine what ensembles she might have loved and those she might have despised, but as a consolation prize here are a few bests and many worsts from me.

Best Music of 2014

I've noticed an odd trend in music I like which is that a lot of my favorite albums seem to come out early in the year, in January and February. This is both good and bad. Good because the first few months of the year are generally the most difficult to get through (hello, seasonal depression), and good music really helps with that, but bad because I spend the rest of the year wondering if people have stopped making good music. The first few months of 2014 produced several albums that stayed in heavy rotation for me all year long: Angel Olsen's Burn Your Fire for No Witness, Phantogram's Voices, Dum Dum Girls' Too True, and Warpaint's self-titled album. I'm excited to see what new musical loves early 2015 has in store for me.

Workwear Planning Made Easy With Wardrobe Journal

I'm not a morning person. It takes me at minimum an hour and a large cup of coffee to be ready to face the world each day. Knowing this about myself, I like to make my mornings as easy as possible by planning ahead. Every Sunday I figure out what I will wear to work each day during the following week. That might seem overwhelming if you are someone who has a difficult time deciding what to wear, but the task is made much easier by one of my favorite apps, Wardrobe Journal. I use Wardrobe Journal to record what I wear each day, then when Sunday rolls around all I need to do is scroll back through the outfits I've worn in the past to figure out what to wear in the upcoming week.

Decor Inspired by The Knick

The Knick has become one of my favorite new shows this year, and I'm excited for the finale this Friday. The writing and acting on the show are good, but what really stands out for me is the show's style. The lighting, set design, and music are on another level. A hospital may seem like an odd choice to draw interior design inspiration from, especially considering the amount of blood spilled on the show, but keep reading and you will see just how nice it can be to play doctor with your decor.

WTF Wednesday

As we march headlong into winter here in the heartland, it's comforting to remember that in Los Angeles it's always warm. Which means outfits like this one (below) can happen year round. So put on your comfiest oversized sweaters, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and dig in to the weird wardrobe mishaps of the past week:

Fun Times in Nashville

As Samantha mentioned in her post last Friday, we were in Nashville over the weekend for our friend Carolyn's bachelorette party. This was only my second time visiting Nashville, and it was just as amazing the second time around. Here are a few highlights of my trip.

I'm not the biggest country music fan, so I was dubious about the live music scene in Nashville. But the Brazil Billy Band at Robert's Western World made me a believer. Definitely check them out!

WTF Wednesday

This week I am happy to say that everybody looked great and I had nobody to call out for their sartorial idiocy. Haha, just kidding, all kinds of bad things were happening in Lala Land this week. Let's dive in, shall we?

Fall In Love Playlist

Today is the first day of fall, and to celebrate I've created a playlist about falling in love. Autumn is perhaps the most romantic season of them all, but it's a darker romance than that of the spring or summer, more likely to end in tears. Sometimes love hits you like a ton of bricks and takes you down, completely against your will.  It is maybe for this reason that we say we fall in love, as if it were a giant, unknowable pit. This playlist celebrates that dangerous, star-crossed side of love.

WTF Wednesday

Well, it's Wednesday again. Humpday. I always find that I have the hardest time picking out an outfit on Wednesday. On Monday, I've had all weekend in my casual garb, and I am refreshed, looking at my work wardrobe with clear eyes. Tuesday, I just wear whatever my second choice for Monday happened to be. But by Wednesday, my pre-selected looks are tapped out and I'm not yet close enough to the weekend to care about a day-to-evening ensemble. Sad. Well, unfortunately I'm not here to give you Wednesday fashion inspiration, but I can give you a little insight as to what not to do. Read on to see which celebrities screwed the pooch on the red carpet this week:

WTF Wednesday: NYFW Edition

Well, it's Wednesday, and that means its time to call out the fashion disasters of the past week. This week comes with a NYFW spin, which is fun because you get some celebrities that normally shy away from the red carpet. Like Whoopie Goldberg, seen below who would probably have a permanent residency on WTF Wednesday if she left her home more often.

WTF Wednesday

So, I was thinking about how much fun I have been having picking out best and worst dressed contenders from award ceremonies, and then the thought occurred to me: "hey, celebrities dress like poo on the reg, so why don't I just make it a weekly post?" Thus, WTF Wednesday was born. Every week I will gather images from celebrity parties and red carpets that make you wonder WTF they were thinking. At first I thought I might have a difficult time assembling such images. But for better or worse, unfortunate decisions are made on a daily basis, and I had plenty of fodder for my post.

Bombpop's Picks for Best and Worst Dressed at the VMAs

Well, the MTV Video Music Awards were last night, and let's just say there were some questionable choices making their way down the red carpet. The VMAs have always had a more relaxed attitude, giving artists some latitude when it comes to wardrobe decisions. This year was no different, making for a super fun red carpet experience, and giving Leah and I tons of options for both best and worst dressed of the evening.

Weekend Getway: Giant City

This past weekend the husband and I met up with some family for a fun weekend getaway at Giant City State Park, just south of Carbondale, IL. We had such a wonderful time that I thought I would share some photos in case anyone out there is looking for a place to go for a quick break from the city before the summer ends.
