NYFW Fave: Thom Browne

Source
I can't claim that I've been watching the NYFW runways obsessively, given that I've been pretty busy taking care of a 3 month old baby and being back at work full-time, but despite that I'm willing to bet that the only collection you NEED to see is from Thom Browne. Its just the right mix of geisha, Pippi Longstocking, and eccentric English garden party.

Your Nursing Wardrobe

Nursing fashion is an oxymoron. All clothes made specifically for nursing are hideous, and worse, make it very obvious to anyone who sees you that you are nursing. No one wears a shirt with snaps all over the front of it unless they need to whip their boobs out super fast to quiet a screaming newborn. If you are like me, you won't really care what anyone thinks of how you look the the first few weeks after having a baby, but eventually things begin to normalize (thankfully) and when that happens you will want some clothes you can leave the house in. Unfortunately, actual clothes shopping will be the last thing you want to do, so it pays to be prepared. Here are some ideas!

Spring Gingham

It's really, truly spring, and the print of the season is gingham! You might associate gingham with picnic tablecloths or country living, but there is a place for it in even the most urbane homes and wardrobes. Give it a try!

Sister Style: Maternity Edition

I love A Beautiful Mess, particularly their sister style posts. I've been meaning to do a copycat post with my sister, Molly, for a while. We finally made it happen and upped the ante a bit by making it all about maternity style! Yes, my sister is also pregnant. She's due two weeks before I am, though we're pretty sure we'll end up going into labor at the same time.

My Favorite Pregnancy Stuff

Pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant? Just like everyone says, it is an amazing, wonderful, and life-changing experience. But no one can deny that it is also often confusing, overwhelming, and uncomfortable. With the latter in mind, here are some things that have helped me get through the first two trimesters of my pregnancy with a smile on my face (most of the time).

"Fantaseyes-ing" About Summer

This past weekend was absolutely gorgeous. With temperatures in the 60s and brilliant, cloudless skies, it was the perfect chance to try out the stylish sunglasses sent to us by Fantaseyes.

What Should Have Been the Color of the Year?

Since 2000, Pantone has selected one shade as the Color of the Year. I still adore last year's color, Radiant Orchid. This year's selection, Marsala, a reddish brown shade more reminiscent of dried blood than wine, was a bit of a let down. Luckily, there are many other great colors to choose from in Pantone's Fashion Color Report Spring 2015. Read on to choose the hue you think will be the biggest this year.

Best and Worst Dressed at the 2015 Golden Globes

It's been very lonely on the blog during the past few months while Samantha has been taking a break, but I feel her absence most acutely as I compose this best and worst dressed list. We can only imagine what ensembles she might have loved and those she might have despised, but as a consolation prize here are a few bests and many worsts from me.

Attractive and Functional Snow Boots

We've already had our first snow here in St. Louis, and I have a feeling that there is a lot more in our future this winter. Hopefully, it won't be the snowpocalypse that last year was, but just in case you might want to think about purchasing some actual snow boots. Sure, the next time we get dumped on with 12+ inches of snow you could wrap your feet in multiple layers of plastic bags, or try to get by with your rain boots, but you and your tootsies will be much more comfortable in an actual pair of snow boots. And they don't have to be ugly! Really!

Well Dressed Wednesday

Hey guys, I have been starting to feel a little bad about always dogging celebrity style on WTF Wednesdays. So, in an effort to balance my karma, I thought I would highlight some stylish looks from the red carpet that might inspire you to up your wardrobe game. So this week let's take a breather from negativity (though it will return next week), and see who's been lookin' fine lately.

Sweater Dressing 101

From year to year, sweater styles don't really change that much. It's a fact. What makes them current is all in how they are styled. Just for you, I have put together styling basics for the three sweater types you will see most often this season; cropped, cardigan, and oversized.  Follow these easy guidelines to be "au courant" all fall and winter long.

Packing for Nashville

I am so excited to be headed to Nashville today for Caro's bachelorette! It will be the first weekend I am way from Lola, and while I know I will be a little sad, I am ready for a couple nights of fun with my ladies! Accordingly, I have  been planning my Nashville wardrobe for months. It's been a work in progress (I'm not as svelte as I'd hoped to be by now), but I think I have edited my weekend wardrobe down to perfection. Here are the pieces that will carry me through my wild (for a mom) weekend in Nashville, TN.

Trend We Love: Flared Denim

I love the seventies. Man, what a great decade. You've got glam rock, the birth of punk, the Brady Bunch, a TON of amazing movies, and best of all, wackadoodle fashion. And while some of the fashion trends were less than stellar (ahem, polyester), one of my favorites was the flare, or bell-bottom. Well guess what kids, they are back, and I couldn't be happier. Here are a few of my favorite pairs available now (and guess what, some of them are a steal!):

Military Mama

I love a good military inspired look, so I was ecstatic when I saw army-themed looks storming the runway at Marc Jacobs' S/S NYFW presentation. The great thing about military is that it never really goes out of style. A good army green or navy structured jacket with epaulettes is something you will wear time and time again for years.

That said, I don't want to wait until spring for a look that's so perfect for fall, and neither should you. So to help you shop the trend now, here are a few of the amazing military inspired pieced you can buy today:

Wedding Bling

I have the honor of being a bridesmaid in the upcoming nuptials of my friends Carolyn and Matt. I'm extremely excited to be a part of their big day, but I must admit I'm also pumped to have an excuse to buy some new accessories for the occasion. In a perfect world we would all have heirloom jewels or a hefty budget for fine jewelry, but let's be real: weddings are expensive enough. So here's a round-up of some affordable and versatile options for brides and bridesmaids alike.

First up, the bride. You are likely going to be wearing the most expensive dress you've ever worn, so the most important thing is choosing accessories that compliment the dress. For most brides, neutral jewelry with lots of shine will probably work best, so consider metallics, rhinestones, and pearls.
