Whiteout

This frigid weather may not be the most welcoming, but it certainly is beautiful, at least it started that way. By now most of the foot of snow that descended on the city of Saint Louis is in unseemly chunks, yellowed and sullied by time, nature, and mankind itself. But there was a brief period of time before the first foot fell and the first salt was poured when pristine snow covered everything. That all too short moment when all was quiet and the cold sun shone on what looked to be diamond dust has inspired this post, an ode to the non-color white.

My Look

Ok, so I decided to give the old Emannuelle Alt formula a try. I had to work so I opted to trade the stiletto for a chunky heeled bootie. But overall, I think it worked.
I can definitely say I will be trying out other versions of this look. When in doubt, Alt it out.

5 Reasons to Wear White After Labor Day

Not wearing white after Labor Day is such a silly, outdated concept. My philosophy: "I wear what I want, dammit!" If thats not reason enough for you, here are five more justifications for wearing white whenever you damn well please:
ONE: Great for a yeti, even better on you! Fur Jacket by Anna Sui
TWO: TILDA!!! Jacket by Band of Outsiders
THREE: Ooh, the White Queen does it. Top by Chloe
FOUR: No one rocks a white harem pant like this guy, unless it's you! Harem Pant by Band Of Outsiders
FIVE: And last but not least, if this image of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg doesn't make you want to immediately go purchase a white trench coat, we are breaking up. Trench by A.F. Vanderhorst.

Fall, Marant Style

As previously stated I am super excited about Isabel Marant's upcoming line for H&M, to be released this November. The Wall Street Journal printed a wonderful interview with her Monday, and I just can't help but like her even more. She's just so... well, French. In anticipation, I have been looking over her collection for Fall/Winter 2013. Here are a few highlights:
This year's collection was a bit of a departure for Marant, focusing less on embellishment and more on clean crisp tonality. But, for the most part, her silhouette has stayed the same. Her rocker edge is there, it's just more along the likes of Bowie's "Thin White Duke" than Jagger. Inspired, I wanted to look for pieces that embody that same vibe, which I think is lovely for fall and perfect for winter.
