A Summer Pimm's Cup

Looking for a refreshing summer cocktail that is perfect for drinking on a hot day? Look no further than the Pimm's Cup. Pimm's is a gin-based liqeur made in England from a secret recipe of fruit juices and spices. With an alcohol content of only 25 percent, it's perfect for when you are planning to have a few.

Pimm's Cup (from Serious Eats)

Ingredients

1/2 a small cucumber, sliced thin
8 strawberries, sliced thin
1/2 an orange, sliced thin
1/2 a lemon, sliced thin
1/2 a green apple, sliced thin
1 quart ice
1 cup (8 ounces) Pimm's No. 1 Cup
3 cups (24 ounces) Sprite, 7-Up, or Ginger Ale
Mint sprigs to garnish

Directions

Layer fruit slices and ice in a pitcher. Add Pimm's and soda. Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine. Pour into glasses making sure to get fruit and ice in each glass. Garnish with mint, and serve.

Customize your garnish as desired. Cucumber with a twist of lemon is traditional, but strawberries and apples taste particularly good with Pimm's. Lemonade makes a great substitute for the soda. If you like a strong drink even when you are having more than one, add an extra splash of gin.

  1. I lived in the UK for six years and we always had Pimms in the summer. It's the absolute best. xx
