fashion inspiration: Vicki from Small Wonder

For today's installment of fashion inspiration we look to the robotic stylings of Vicki, the perky child fembot star of Small Wonder.
Known as much for her cheeky red dress as much as her sassy disposition, Vicki stole our hearts and inspired us to buy cute aprons and mary jane shoes. Though the show is no longer airing, we can still look to Vicki for inspiration.
We must have a red dress.
I like this sheep dress from See by Chloe because it incorporates the animal print trend and keeps a sense of humor, which is so Vicki. baaaaaaaaa
BTW, this dress is on sale at Outnet.
Now I'm not much of an apron girl, so we'll forgo the apron in it's literal form and use it for inspiration by layering a lacy white top over the sheep dress.
This one from BCBG Max Azria is super fun and will help cover the decolletage for us modest ladies (ie closet harlots).
Of course we need some serious heels to make sure we don't get mistaken for Little Bo Peep:
These mary janes from Miu Miu keep it classy and keep you from being harassed by pedophiles. I keed I keed.
Finish it off with a pretty cuff from Kate Spade and it will be a small wonder if you don't get complimented! ha so bad I know but so goooood.

fashion inspiration: That's So Raven

For this installment of fashion inspiration, we look to the divine Raven Simone, star and psychic title character of That's So Raven.
We love her embrace of femininity, and her fearlessness in the face of resembling a drag queen. The spunky psychic even foresaw the Yeti look that has been taking over Fall 2011 runways:
No doubt she inspired Prabal Gurung:

So this is how BombPop does Raven:
We'll start off with our foundation pieces: A simple, well cut white tank and pastel skinny jeans:
Michael Lauren Tank
Pastel blue skinnies from Yoox
Obviously, we need some hot pink in this mix:
This blouse from Jil Sander is perfect. and versatile. And These boots from black rooster definitely bring the party-or seance in Raven's case.

And the look wouldn't be complete without a smack of Yeti. This Azzaro marabou jacket finishes the look off nicely.
Accessorize with giant hoop earrings ala Stephen Webster and a spunky attitude. HA! Now You're so Raven!

FallFashionWeek: Marc Jacobs

Is it just me, or does Marc seem to be influenced by Mondo, runner up from last season's Project Runway? just sayin'. That said, I love the ladylike cuts and the gorgeous Edwardian lace detailing that popped up later in the show. Here are some highlights:

FallFashionWeek: Band of Outsiders

Band of Outsiders unleashed a deluge of powder room meets lumberjack ensembles. I liked two of them:

This one because of its weird chicness amidst a see of long johns. And this one because it appears the yeti has returned in the night:

FallFashionWeek: The Row

I am normally a fan of The Row. But even I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of fur in their collection.

Case in point:

and this:

I mean, really guys? I love a good wookie look as much as the next guy, but seriously, who wears a fur apron dress? who? I want to meet them and bow at their sartorial feet and then laugh at them because they are so dumb. thank you antoine.

That said, The Row did have a couple of keepers:

In these looks the gothic dandy look seems to work. ok onward good soldiers!

FallFashionWeek: Alexander Wang

Now I love Alexander Wang. But this collection was out-of-pocket love!
The seamless transition from fur to cashmere to leather/nylon is genius. Mr. Wang, despite your marginally funny name, will you be my valentine?

note the yeti feet. xo

I love this outfit, but it could definitely use some Yeti.

FallFashionWeek: Altuzarra

Once again the great Yeti abounds.

Loves me a plaid trouser.
