BombPop Picks for Best and Worst Dressed From the Academy Awards

And finally we come to the most anticipated of award show red carpets, the Oscars. A rainy afternoon couldn't stop the parade of mostly well coifed celebrities from showing off their borrowed gowns and tuxedos. Here's who we thought did it right and who needs a new stylist:

Sam:

Best Dressed:

Anne Hathaway has redeemed herself for last year's nipply faux pas. In fact this armored Gucci seemed hand-picked just for its complete coverage of that area. Whatever her reasoning, the gown is a stunner.

Lupita Nyong'o would be stunning in a potato sack, but this Prada is a perfect choice for the gorgeous Yale graduate.

I am a sucker for a good fringe, and Jennifer Garner looks amazing in this sassy little beaded number from Oscar De La Renta.

I also want to give a shout out to two celebrity couples that killed it on the red carpet:

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

Jason Sudeckis and Olivia Wilde

Worst Dressed:

Something just seems off about the bust line of this beaded gown by Elie Saab, which manages to make even the flawless Angelina Jolie look frumpy.

Julia Roberts looks like a dumpy extra from Downton Abbey in this lacy number by Givenchy.

This number is just a tad too matronly on Julie Delpy, who apparently slammed the Academy just days ago.

Best Dressed:

For me the best of the night was Cate Blanchett in Armani. I'm usually not a nude dress fan, but Cate managed to make me a believer.

I think the silhouette of this Dior gown on Charlize Theron is really different and fun. Lots of ladies in black gowns at the Oscars, but this one stood out for me.

My lady-crush award goes to Kate Hudson in this slinky Atelier Versace number. I'm always a sucker for a good cape.

Worst Dressed:

I can't believe this is the same Margot Robbie who gave "Wolf of Wall Street" all of its sex appeal and killed it at the Golden Globes earlier this year. This Saint Laurent gown is pretty ho-hum for the Oscars; paired with the dark hair and make-up it all feels very goth mother of the bride.

This Escada dress commits two sins against Viola Davis: the not-particularly flattering color and the neckline, which makes her shoulders look extra broad. But nice guns, Viola!

Chrissy Teigen first caught my attention on the red carpet when I spied her hiking up this Monique Lhuillier gown to cover her chest. As someone who avoids strapless dresses at all costs due to an ample rack, I can empathize. But Chrissy is also a professional model attending the Oscars, and I really don't like the print on this dress either, so all that adds up to a giant fail for me.

We've weighed in, now it's your turn! Any crimes against fashion that we missed? Any stunners we overlooked?

  1. The beading on the dress is beautifully and detailed. The material is smooth and of high quality. It has "weight" to it. I cannot believe the deal I got!

  2. I too bought a dress online. The designer emailed me within 2 hours of when I placed my order to confirm my measurements and then recommended a better size for me.
