Though fall foliage is gorgeous, I prefer the colorful explosion of trees blossoming in the spring. Here in Missouri we have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to flowering trees. The flowering dogwood and hawthorn are both important to Missouri, having been designated the state tree and state flower respectively. Now is the time of year when they (along with many other flowering trees) really shine. Here are a few varieties that you may be able to spot around St. Louis in the next few weeks.
Dogwood:
Hawthorn:
Apple:
Cherry:
Saucer Magnolia:
Redbud:
Are you considering adding one of these beauties to your yard? Early spring is one of the best times to plant them!
