Fashion Inspiration: The Craft

The nineties are back, right? Well, they have been for a while, but the trend really seems to be peaking right this moment. To me, there are a few movies that really encompass the nineties; Empire Records, Clueless, Can't Hardly Wait, etc. But the one that really sticks in my craw is The Craft.

Man, that was Fairuza Balk at her finest. From the witchy black lipstick to the sexy schoolgirl kilt, she had the tough bitch look on lockdown. I wanted to be her.

Well, maybe a less unbalanced version of her, anyway. So today I am bringing you looks inspired by the Four Corners themselves, Sarah (Robin Tunney), Nancy (Fairuza Balk), Bonnie (Neve Campbell), and Rochelle (Rachel True).

As a whole I would describe their look as "Goth-prep," which involves taking pieces your classic school uniform and spicing them up with witchy makeup, spiked jewelry, tough boots, and tons of attitude.

We'll start with Sarah. Sweet Sarah never knew what she was getting into when her family moved to Los Angeles. Luckily, she had her strange abilities to help her through the always tough time of changing high schools.

Sarah runs a smidge boho, adding beaded rosaries and bangles to her goth-prep ensembles.

Bonnie, played by Neve Campbell, has a slightly grungier element to her look. Her trademark army jacket is timeless, and takes her prep level down a notch.

Rochelle, played by Rachel True, is the preppiest of our girls, rocking blazers and cute suspenders and ties, along with an adorable "alice" band.

And now Nancy. I saved her for last because obviously she is the best. Nancy has a look that says you probably shouldn't screw with her but she really wishes you would. Sassy, prickly, and mentally unstable, she rules her coven with an iron fist. Nancy is ready for a night of levitation any day of the week.

So that's it for The Craft. I hope I inspired you to pop out some great nineties themed looks, or at least to dabble in a little black magic, if you know what I mean... xo Sam
