All Gold Everything, A New Year's Eve Wish List.

In a mere five days, the year 2013 will be but a memory. I am so excited for 2014. I know it will be a banner year, full of change and excitement. Weddings, babies, and new adventures all wait for me in the coming year. I can't wait to meet it head on. But in the mean time, let's give 2013 a proper send off.

This past year has been marked aesthetically for me by a healthy gold fixation. So lets get it out of my system. A virtual color cleanse to ring in the new year and purge my racoon-like brain of my shiny obsession. This New Year's Eve I want ALL GOLD EVERYTHING!

You heard me. Lets get this party train rollin'. Wish list, commence!

Sparkle Motion

As a seven year old I performed in my first dance recital. I was a terrible tap dancer and I kicked in the wrong direction multiple times, but did I care? Not one bit. Because under those lights all I could think about was how much I was shining like the sparkly beacon I was always meant to be. And what was this gift that made me shine so? Well, my friends, anyone watching could easily tell you that it wasn't my talent.

It was sequins, and lots of them. I learned that day that what I lacked in natural grace, I could make up for with copious amounts of sparkle. It was a lesson I never forgot, and to this day I still use my powers of distraction to mask my less than stellar dancing abilities. So in this, the season of holiday cheer, I highly recommend that you take a lesson from my book and pile on the bling. Always here to help, I have provided several sequin encrusted options for your perusal. I recommend a healthy dose of red lipstick and a flute of bubbly to finish off your look.

It's your life, why not have fun with it?

Sequined Skirt Two Ways

I'm a fan of the Bravo show Top Chef. While I don't really watch many cooking shows,  I feel like Top Chef has nailed the balance of cooking and drama. Not to mention Padma Lakshmi's always entertaining parade of questionably sexy outfits.

On Top Chef, the contestants are never happy just making a protein one way. Nay, it is always "pork three ways," or "scallops two ways." I could never understand why they didn't just simplify their lives and make one great dish, but I always admired their initiative.

Today, in honor of those brave chefs, I have prepared for you "sequined skirt two ways."

Bon appetit!

Master the Holiday Smokey Eye with the Studio Gear Cosmetics Palette

After looking at oodles of cocktail dresses, I know what you are thinking: "Get me a drink!"

Well don't you worry, we have cocktail recipes on the way, but for now let's focus on your makeup for the evening, which ideally, you would apply before drinking, or at least before drinking hard liquor.

I have already stated my love for a great sparkly golden eyeshadow, but I am also a huge fan of the smokey eye. It's a look that makes you feel sultry and a little edgy, with the added benefit of knowing that no matter how much it smudges throughout the evening, you probably still look like it was intentional. Plus, with a dramatic eye, you can keep your lips simple with a nude tone that won't scare away potential midnight kissing partners.

Luckily, our friends at Studio Gear have just the palette for you. The Studio Gear Cosmetics Holiday Smoky Eye Palette is extremely user friendly with a detailed diagram right on the inner lid of the palette for easy access while using the powder shadows. Apply discreetly for a subtle look, or pile it on for drama!
